IPL 2020 Team Profile


The 13th edition of Indian Premier League will have totally eight IPL teams in the contest. All the eight teams will play 2 matches against each other IPL team. So totally, each team will play 14 daily IPL matches in the league stage. After the league stage matches, the top four IPL teams from the points table will be qualified for the IPL Qualifier matches.

After the qualifier round, the winner will qualifier directly to play the IPL final, the loser will play the eliminator round with the winner of the another qualifier match. The list of IPL teams which are going to play in this season are:

  4. Kolkata Knight Riders
  5. Kings XI Punjab

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians is one of the strongest IPL team which is playing the Indian Premier League tournaments from 2008 season. The MI team have won the IPL championship 4 times in 2013, 2015, 2017 and IPL 2019 season. Totally the Mumbai Indians have played 187 IPL matches from 1st season to 12th season of IPL. This list includes league matches, qualifier, eliminator and final matches. Out of 187 matches, the MI team have won 108 IPL T20 matches.

Chennai Super Kings

The Chennai Super Kings lead by MS Dhoni has become three times IPL winner in 2010, 2011 and IPL 2018 season. The CSK is the only consisting team to qualify for the play-offs and qualifier round in every IPL season. The team have also qualified 8 times for IPL final match in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2019. The CSK lost the final with Rajasthan Royals in 2008, against KKR in 2012, with Mumbai Indians in 2013, against MI in 2015 and again with MI in 2019.

Kolkata Knight Riders IPL Team

The KKR team have won 2 times IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. The Kolkata Knight Riders have won totally 93 IPL cricket T20 matches from 2008 to 2019. KKR is one of the IPL team, which never loose in any IPL final. The team have also qualified and played 4 times IPL Eliminator round in 2011, 2016, 2017 and 2018 season. In which, the Knight Riders advanced to IPL final two times.

Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals is one of the teams, which never won any IPL title so far. The team have won totally 76 IPL matches from 2008 season to till date. The team have qualified for IPL eliminator in the last IPL season and won that match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL team. But, they failed to advance to IPL 2019 final after losing the eliminator match with the Chennai Super Kings.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL team is lead by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The RCB team have played 180 today IPL matches and have won 84 IPL matches including the qualifier, eliminator and the league stage matches. They have won one eliminator match in IPL 2015 against the Rajasthan Royals on 20th May 2015 at MCAI Stadium, Pune. The RCB team have also qualified a couple of times for the IPL final in 2011 and 2016. But they have lost both the final matches against the Chennai Super Kings and the Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL team.

Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals IPL team is the winner of the IPL fist season in 2008. The RR team were so consistent in IPL 2008 and won the IPL title by beating the Chennai Super Kings with 3 wickets margin in the final match. They have played totally 147 IPL matches and have won 75 T20 games. The RR team have also played 3 IPL eliminator matches, in which they have won one match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2013 at Feroz Shaga Kotla Stadium, Delhi.

Kings XI Punjab

The KXIP IPL team have won 82 IPL matches from the 176 IPL matches played from 2008 to 2019. Though the KXIP team have qualified for the qualifier, they never reached the IPL final in any season. The Kings XI Punjab IPL team is having most popular T20 cricket players such as Chris Gayle, Glenn Maxwell, James Neesham, Mayank Agarwal and Mohammad Shami etc.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL team have played 108 matches and won 59 T20 games from that. The team have also qualified and played 3 IPL eliminator matches, but never won a single match in eliminator round. The SRH team have also qualified a couple of times for the IPL final in 2016 and IPL 2018. In IPL 2016, the beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore team and won their first-ever IPL cup. In 2018 IPL final, they lost to the Chennai Super Kings.
